The Australian Bureau of Statistics has released its latest ‘Labour Force’ data with Queensland recording its lowest unemployment rate since April 2009.
Unemployment is now down to 5.1% – 0.3 percentage points lower than May 2021.
Encouragingly, the 16,700 QLD jobs created last month were full-time positions and more than half of all jobs created in Australia.
Since the depths of COVID in May last year we’ve gone on to create 300,000 jobs in Queensland – more than any other state or territory.
We know these may not be the same jobs or even the same people who lost their jobs through Covid19, but these figures show that Queensland’s economic recovery plan is working.
