You will have seen the extensive preparation work that have been underway to prepare the greenfield site 
(next to the current Mater Private Hospital) with contractors on site now beginning formal construction works.
The new Public Hospital will deliver:
174 public overnight and same-day beds;
Emergency Department & Intensive Care Unit
‘Mater Mothers’ Maternity services
More operating theatres and endoscopy suites
Increased clinical capability for more complex care to be delivered locally
I have advocated strongly for more health services in this region and I am so proud that our Government in partnership with Mater is delivering the new Public Hospital with an initial $177 million investment.
