How fortunate am I to be able to attend two βANZAC Day ceremonies today!
The students and staff at Greenbank State School did a wonderful job commemorating this special day, made even more special by the sharing of photos and memories of their own family members who have served in our armed forces.

A wonderful ceremony today at Greenbank. Everything went well, the choir was great and I was proud to see photos in the slide show of my Dad WWII Airforce and his grandfather WWI Army, as part of the service. As usual Greenbank sets a high standard and the children were well behaved and respectful.
Honoured to attend todayβs ANZAC Day ceremony at Springfield Central State High School πΊ
We paused to remember the courage, sacrifice and service of those who have defended our nation, and to see the next generation carry forward the spirit of remembrance.

The Queensland Parliament was a hive πof activity this week! Here are just some of the highlights:
π Motor Neurone Disease Association of Queensland joined us to highlight the reality of this cruel disease and to advocate for much needed funding.
βΊThe annual Scouting on the Green event hosted by Scouts Queensland showcasing the many positive aspects of scouting for young people.
π·Parkinson's QLD who were there to advocate, educate and raise awareness about the condition currently affecting over 15,000 Queenslanders.
π©ΊThe RACGP promoting this season's flu vaccinations campaign and the vital work of our GPs across Queensland.
π©οΈRoyal Flying Doctor Service - Queensland Section who brought their aeromedical simulator to showcase the essential services they deliver to communities across regional, rural and remote Queensland.
πͺ¦St George Chinese Community Memorial brought in a replica of their beautiful memorial which honours the lives of the the Chinese labourers who came to St George in the mid-1800s.
Thank you to all of these amazing organisations (and those I didn't get a chance to engage with this week!) for your incredible work in communities and across the State. ... See MoreSee Less

Something extraordinary has happened. π
Many of us have seen the impact of drug addiction in our communities and in many families. But David Crisafulli and the LNP have today passed laws that cut healthcare for people struggling with addiction.
The Australian Medical Association of Queensland has described it as "short-sighted and a blow to mental and preventative health" and many experts agree.
Labor voted against these laws, because we won't stand for cuts to important healthcare βοΈ, especially on ideological grounds. ... See MoreSee Less

Because the police service isnt understaffed or overworked already. The jails are not full either. Or the medical profession is against it too.

In November 2024, the High Court in a decision of Bird v DP created a loophole in our law.
It means if an abuser wasnβt directly employed by an institution - i.e. a volunteer, a priest or someone on a stipend that institution canβt be held vicariously liable for that abuse.
This means many victim survivors of institutional child sexual abuse will not have this avenue available to them to seek redress through the courts for the abuse they suffered.
Every State has the opportunity to close this loophole. Victoria and ACT have already acted, and we have been imploring the Queensland Government to do the same.
Those pleas have been ignored. So, this week in the Queensland Parliament, the Labor Opposition introduced a Private Member's Bill to close that legal loophole.
A number of brave victim survivors came to the Parliament to see this legislation introduced. We did this for them and for all who deserve a pathway to justice. ... See MoreSee Less
