Really pleased to be part of the launch for the ‘Parliamentary Friends of Palliative Care’ 🧡

Quality compassionate care is fundamental for those reaching end of life and I want to commend Palliative Care Queensland Inc. for their incredible work and advocacy in this space.

It was great to also catch up Gail Rogers, CEO of Ipswich Hospice Care - Queensland who are providing this wonderful care in our own region.

This year's Bark in the Park will have a special focus on supporting the incredible Empower Assistance Dogs to continue their fantastic work.

I absolutely love that they harness the magic ✨ of dogs to enhance quality of life for people facing various challenges.

They currently provide assistance dogs for some of our local schools including Hymba Yumba Independent School & Springfield Central State School.

The team will be at the event with a 'Spin the Wheel' comp and LOTS of great prizes to win. All proceeds to support their operations.

📍 Robelle Domain (The Circle), Springfield Central

A lovely Parliamentary Reception hosted by Independent Schools Queensland this evening and an opportunity to showcase the great schools in #ipswich.

I was pleased to catch up with the Chair of The Springfield Anglican College Michael Willis as well as West Moreton Anglican College Official Chair, Bruce Sackson and Principal Andrew Peach.

We are fortunate to have terrific independent schools in the region providing high quality learning, social and spiritual education.

Happy International Nurses Day! 🙌

10 years ago today, the then #Labor Government passed laws in the Queensland Parliament mandating minimum nurse-to-patient ratios.

In its first year, the new ratio system saved 145 patient lives and helped avoid 255 readmissions and 29,200 hospital days, an estimated saving of between $55.2m to $83.4m.

It is a world leading achievement and something all Queenslanders should be immensely proud of.

It was good to join fellow MPs and wonderful members of the Queensland Nurses and Midwives' Union as we recreated the photo from the historic night the legislation was passed.

Another very concerning incident at the Bald Hills Mosque - the fourth in six months.

No Australian should ever feel unsafe, threatened, or intimidated while attending their place of worship.

I stand with our Muslim communities and re-affirm my commitment to ensuring that Islamophobia in our country is never accepted nor normalised.

While its great that you take this stance, the ALP has done little to protect Muslims, and people of colour including first nations and indigenous Australians.

,You don’t stand with Australians!

100% agree Charis. Regardless of religion they should be allowed to worship without the threat and intimidation from these people.

In exciting news, the very first baby has been born at the new Mater Public Hospital in #Springfield!

A huge congratulations to #SpringMountain parents Miriama and Remedi on the birth of a beautiful baby girl called Hiwa-i-te-Rangi which means "wishing star" ⭐

I know many in our community have been wishing for local maternity services for many years so it's wonderful to see this incredible first at our new hospital.

Remember the Robelle Domain Cafe next to the Splash Park? 💦

Sadly, it has sat empty for a number of years, but Ipswich City Council has re-opened the tender for a qualified service provider to lease and operate the Council owned facility.

The Facility includes a fully equipped commercial kitchen and was previously operated as the parklands’ café. It would work well as a commercial, training or social enterprise.

✏️All submissions must be submitted through VendorPanel (search Robelle) and further info is available here: www.vendorpanel.com.au/PublicTenders.aspx

⌛ Tender closes on Monday 25 May 2026 at 2:00pm.

to be honest it would be a great place for a few food trucks, always the cafe owners over price there food and drinks, I would even have themed nights, light music on summer nights, the place is under used, IMO

Was only just thinking about this cafe the other day and how it should make a come back. We used to do mum group meet ups there and buy food and coffee all the time. Run well it could be quite successful. Shame it won't make it back as a cafe by the sounds of this post.

Now the sames needs to happen at the Flagstone Adventure Park.

In 1986, a group came together to support the then small Tamil community in Queensland.

This afternoon, we celebrated 40 years of the Tamil Association Queensland Inc குயின்ஸ்லாந்து தமிழ் சங்கம் இணை.

For the past four decades, TAQ has provided valued leadership, support for Tamil-Australian families as well as community and cultural connections.

Thank you to President Karthick & the current TAQ Executive for the honour of celebrating this significant milestone with our Tamil community.

I hope someone looks at you the way my mum looked at me.

I’ve always loved this photo of her captured as I walked down the aisle at my wedding.

This is my first Mother’s Day without her. Yet I still feel her love deeply - and that will never fade.

It’s a wonderful reminder that a mother’s love truly is unconditional, selfless and eternal.

Happy Mother’s Day ♥️

Yes Charis, first Mothers Day and Fathers Day without your parent is definitely a hard one but even harder when it is following the loss of one of your children particularly when it was your eldest. 🙏

Such a beautiful picture, you definitely carry her. Happy Mother’s Day x
