Congratulation to SomaliQld on the official opening of The Somali House 🇸🇴
More than a building, this is a place of belonging, learning, connection and hope.
For many Somali families, the journey to Australia has been one of incredible resilience and courage - this centre stands as a tribute to that journey.

Good news....Are each country getting their own house in Brisbane in the future or just the Lucky Somalian? Just curious 🤔
Congratulations!
Many sports are heading into sign-on season... so perfect time to ensure your child has their Play On! (formerly FairPlay) voucher! ⛹️♀️🤸⚽️🏀🎾🏏
EVERY Queensland child aged 5-17 is entitled to one voucher per year to assist with the cost of getting them into sport, so if you didn't receive one during the last round (August 2025), this is your time.

🚧 Rail Works Notice 🚧
There are a number of track closures across the month of February, some of which will impact the #Springfield and #ipswich rail lines.
These mainly relate to Queensland Rail undertaking Cross River Rail Works and regular track maintenance.
Timetabled buses will replace trains during these times.

Do you park at #Springfield Station? 🚆 I want to hear from you! 🗣
The Springfield Station is getting busier with increased patronage (thanks to #Labor's 50c fares!) but this means parking is becoming harder to secure.
Sadly, Ipswich City Council has also been aggressively fining commuters who are just trying to park safely along Nev Smith Drive. 😐
There are a few options for increasing parking capacity at the station - but I would also like to hear your ideas.
Your feedback will support my ongoing advocacy to the State Government, Ipswich City Council, and Queensland Rail to secure a solution for commuters.

The parking is a problem because the station is the node and is supporting a very large catchment area. The car park doesnt need extending, the railway does.
Charis Mullen MP parking will always have this issue. In my opinion, the ultimate solution is to stop people from taking their cars out of their garages. There should be more efficient feeder buses and new bus routes. For example, the 528 route bus operates every 30 minutes, and when scheduled services are cancelled, commuters and students end up late for work and school.
Please build a car park next to Ellen Cct in Springfield Lakes.

I was delighted to attend the official opening of the Inala University Study Hub this morning, being led by the University of Southern Queensland - Australia.
If you live in outer suburban areas, studying at a university (even in Brisbane) can sometimes feel like it's just too far away.
But the Albanese #Labor Government is changing this through the $66.9m 'Regional University Study Hubs Program' - which is bringing higher education closer to where a lot of people live and opening up the world to more opportunities.
The new Inala University Study Hub is fantastic and offers a quiet space to study, providing WiFi, computers and printing as well as academic support for local students enrolled at ANY university, TAFE or vocational education.
A huge thank you to Federal Minister Jason Clare and Milton Dick MP for championing this project which will be of great benefit to the entire south-west SEQ region. ... See MoreSee Less

Please can you confirm if $295 is the max a public patient will pay no matter what type of scan/s are run. Who the doctor is etc?
Wow, doubt a lot of people will be going there. I know for us with all the costs rising, we wont be able to afford to make a visit, so ipswich hospital for emergency or gp wait list will be the only option. Guess the fees would need to cover the cost of the newly built hospital. Good to see extra medical services but with all the rising costs of living perhaps helping families out would be great 👍

An interesting historical coincidence...Australia Day 🇦🇺 and Indian Republic Day 🇮🇳 actually fall on the same day (26 Jan).
Thank you to the Federation of Indian Communities of Queensland (FICQ) | Australia for inviting me to their annual ‘India - Australia Day’ event last night - always a wonderful opportunity to recognise the strong and enduring relationship between our two nations.

We need to document every politician who chose to celebrate India's Republic Day on our Australia Day educate their electorate come next election. It's time for candidates who are loyal to Australia and our national identity.
If they’ve become Australian citizens, they should be celebrating Australia Day. Why are they here if they want to celebrate India Day.
Charis Mullen MP So there you go, I served in the Australian defence force for 28 years and only think of my self as an Australian but often reflect on my heritage and how lucky I was to have my parents bravely crossing the globe to Australia. I was born in India and immigrated with my parents and siblings 57 years ago and had no idea Australia Day and Indian Independence days were both on the 26th January. A double celebration of for both cultures with a respectful acknowledgement that the 26th January is day of reflection and mourning for our indigenous Australians.
