There is such a strength when women lead, support one another and stand together. š
I was so pleased to moderate a fantastic panel conversation this afternoon with Annastacia Palaszczuk and Yvette DāAth for International Womenās Day.
Representation matters and we know when women are at the decision making table, policies better reflect the lives and realities for all women and girls in our State and nation.
It is critical that womenās voices are heard, respected and valued - something #Labor fights for and believes in. ... See MoreSee Less

The Zonta Ipswich Inc International Womenās Day Breakfast never disappoints.
This year, the always insightful Sandy Venn Brown, Vice President of Zonta International shared her thoughts on the 2026 IWD theme of āBalance the Scalesā.
She highlighted the urgent need to ensure fair, inclusive, and accessible justice for every woman and girl.
More than words, it is a promise for every woman and girl to be safe, heard, and free to shape her own future. šš

This all comes as the Crisafulli LNP Government gags Parliamentary debate and tables secret amendments at the last minute.
But the laws still got through, cause liberal are bragging they passed

Have you noticed increasing blackouts along the Ipswich Motorway, Centenary Highway and local roads?
Thank you to the local motorists who have reached out to me about their concerns.
I have contacted both the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Energex about this issue which seems to be escalating in recent times.
Of course, we know the theft of copper wiring is to blame but repairs are slow, leaving residents, motorists and pedestrians navigating dangerously dark streets and highways.
This is not merely an inconvenience; it is a serious public safety hazard.
Energex has advised they are replacing copper with aluminium which has less value to thieves - but this will take time and we need to see our highways prioritised.
Local MPs have also written to the QLD Police Minister urging him to support a specific copper theft operation for our region - like they just did for Townsville (Operation Whiskey Biome).
We deserve similar attention with targeted enforcement that can disrupt the crimes and deter further offending. ... See MoreSee Less

It’s definitely a problem out this way. Cable gets run back in then stolen again a few days later. Trust me the workers are doing what they can but it’s a bigger problem than people think.
Thank you for the update. My concern is that the hazard will remain, unmanaged, for an undefined period of time. What is the interim mitigation action to reduced risk to motorists?
