Very sad to hear of the passing of Sir Llew Edwards – an important figure for the Ipswich region and for Queensland.

Sir Llew served as the Member for Ipswich in the Queensland Parliament from 1972 to 1983. He also served as Minister for Health, Deputy Premier and Treasurer.

Following his time in politics, he served as Chair and CEO of Brisbane’s World Expo 88 – which was a transformative event for Brisbane and Queensland. In 2010, Sir Llew was named as a ‘Queensland Great’ for his extraordinary contribution to Queensland.

My sincere condolences to his wife, Lady Jane Edwards and to the entire Edwards family, many of whom continue to live in our Ipswich region.
